Crisis and Resilience Innovation Fund Supports Sustainable Economy in Geneva
Together with the Department of Economic Development of the Canton of Geneva, the University of Geneva and the HES-SO Geneva, Open Geneva has launched a crisis and resilience innovation fund to develop collective solutions for the economic challenges facing the Geneva ecosystem in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis.
Following the Geneva Resilience Hack, a fruitful two-day brainstorming session covering a wide range of themes, such as remote working, sustainable fashion and technology to support the restaurant industry, a closing ceremony will take place at the Palexpo exhibition centre in Geneva. Palexpo will be reopening its doors for the first time since the start of the pandemic to welcome the participants to this socially-distanced event.
What will happen at the Closing Ceremony?
State Councillor Pierre Maudet will speak about the importance of innovation, collective intelligence and resilience in the context of the economic challenge generated by the pandemic.
The will also be a panel to discuss the challenges of resilience, including the impact on SMEs and International Geneva, smart cities and education. The panelists will be SixSq CEO Marc-Elian Bégin, Marion Jansen, Chief Economist at the International Trade Center, and Cédric Dupont, President of Executive Education at Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies. They will be kept in check by Nicholas Niggli, Deputy Secretary General at Republic and State of Geneva who will moderate the discussion.
Following the panel, announcement will be made of the three favourite projects of the hackathon.
